November is National Diabetes Awareness Month

Dr. Pinsker of Washington, PA is doing free diabetic foot exams in November

Dr. Pinsker wants to help raise awareness as well as help people in the community.

Question: How?
Answer: By offering FREE foot exams to any patient with diabetes through the month of November!

In case you didn't already know, diabetes is a disease that can have detrimental health effects on different areas of the body, including the feet. Dr. Pinsker cares about his patients' foot health, which is the main reason he wants to offer free foot exams. If something IS wrong with your feet, wouldn't you want to know? If you're curious, then please come in! There's no risk because it's completely free.

Some of the things Dr. Pinsker will look for:

  • Neuropathy. This is where there's nerve damage done to the foot resulting in loss of feeling.
  • Skin Changes. Dry feet with deep cracks can be a real problem. Also, skin stretched tight across feet is something to watch for.
  • Foot Ulcers. These often occur on the bottom of the foot and can be due to improperly fitting shoes. These are especially dangerous because if they're ignored, they can result in amputation.
  • Poor Circulation. Blood vessels in the feet and legs tend to narrow in patients with diabetes, which results in poor blood flow.
  • Calluses. If ignored, calluses on diabetic feet can sometimes break down and become ulcers. The solution is to have a professional cut them down early to prevent development of ulcers.

If you're interested in having your feet examined, please call our office and schedule an appointment. November is only 30 days long, so don't let it pass you by before having your feet checked!

People with diabetes need to pay special attention to their feet. Regluar foot exams can help reduce complications and reduce the risk of amputations by up to 85%. Learn the facts and lower your risk.
