Find the Best Golf Shoes for Your FeetWith the weather getting nicer, golf courses are getting ready for a new season. The right golf shoes will be essential if you will be visiting a great course such as The Golf Club of Washington in Washington, PA. The right clubs may help improve your shots, but good golf shoes will improve your game and protect your foot health.

The health and stability of your feet make up the foundation for your golf game. Accuracy, direction, timing, and force all begin with your feet, making the right shoes an important decision. At one time golf shoes were designed more for fashion than anything, but times have changed. Today shoes are made along the lines of athletic shoes, with graphite shank reinforcements and qualities that add comfort and stability.

Since a game of golf will require some walking, buy shoes that fit your feet well and that are comfortable from the start. Go shopping in the afternoon, when your feet have had a chance to swell a bit, and bring your socks with you for an accurate fit. The wrong shoe could cause blisters or neuromas and strain your plantar fascia or Achilles. If you have flat feet, high arches, corns, calluses or bunions, for example, be sure to find a style that will fit your particular foot structure. If your foot overpronates (rolls inward) and is unable to function normally, it would be helpful to wear a pair of custom orthotics in your golf shoes, so your feet can remain supported and extra stable during each swing.

If a round of golf this spring leaves you with painful feet, first check the quality of your shoes, and then give our office a call. We can evaluate your shoes and your foot health and determine why you may be experiencing discomfort.
