“He that is good for making excuses is seldom good for anything else.”

-Benjamin Franklin

That may sound a little harsh but Benjamin Franklin may have been on to something when trying to discuss what is behind making excuses. We have all done it and we often do when it comes to exercise.

Taking care of you needs to be a priority and when it comes to exercising at home there really are no valid excuses. Below are some great ideas that require no equipment. Making an effort to fitting these into your day will make a big difference in your health and energy to get through each day.

Use what is around you!

Climb stairs – Step up on the first then back down, go up two then walk down then three and back down. Continue the pattern and feel your muscles work!

Laundry basket lifts – fill a small basket with enough clothes to manage the weight. Hold above your head and lower back down. Repeat 15 times.

TV Breaks – Even if you want to fit in your favorite shows, commit to making the most of each commercial break. Jumping jacks, sit ups, some yoga or curls with small weights can be done at each interval.

Roll around – If your at home job has you sitting in front of a computer, invest in a rolling chair. Get a bicep work out in by pushing yourself back and pulling back in with your arm muscles.

At the end of the day, we can all do something right? Take care of your feet too while you do these exercises and wear supportive shoes. If you experience any pain or discomfort, have your feet looked at by Dr. Phil Pinsker, a foot and ankle specialist in Washington, PA. Visit his website at www.washingtonfootdoc.com
