Valentine’s Day is an opportunity to splurge and show some extra love and attention to those special people in your life. According to cnn.com there will be around $1.6 billion spent on candy and approximately 151 million cards exchanged on this special day. Since your feet won’t appreciate cards or chocolate, how are you going to show them some love?

That may sound like a strange question, but while your mind is on the topic of love, why not love your feet and give them the extra attention they deserve? Let’s face it, our feet are usually ignored and neglected, and sometimes the result is pain or injury. These tips will help bring life back to your tired feet, and include great ways to pamper them after a long day at work or with your girlfriends over Valentine’s Day.

First, let your feet soak for 10-20 minutes in warm foot bath with some Epsom salts or peppermint oil, which soothe feet and increase circulation. Try a homemade exfoliant of ¼ cup of honey, ¼ cup of raw sugar and two tablespoons of grape seed oil—use with a pumice stone to smooth away rough skin and calluses. With the mixture still on, wrap your feet in a warm, moist towel and wait 15 minutes before rinsing off. Rinse and towel dry your feet and then apply a nice moisturizer with peppermint before putting socks on for the night. This whole routine can be done often and your feet will love you back!

We are expert at caring for feet and are available if you have any questions or concerns about your foot health. Don’t hesitate to contact Dr. Phil Pinsker for an appointment. Call our Washington, PA podiatric office at (724) 225-7410 today.
