many people suffer from foot and ankle pain unnecessarily.

How does your family stay active?

Not only is it important for adults and children alike to stay healthy and active, there are easy ways to do it! Dr. Pinsker, foot specialist in Washington, PAcares for the foot and ankle needs for patients of all ages. Staying active is very important for foot health as extra weight can put stress and strain on your feet. In our most recent blog (Family Fun, Part 1), Dr. Pinsker shared the idea of using dance as way to get your family moving. This week, it’s yard work!

How can yard work be fun and active?

Yard work is more of a chore for most people but it can provide a way for your family to enjoy the outdoors, get active, and be productive! In the fall, send children on a scavenger hunt for colors and types of leaves. Then, rake big piles and let your kids run and jump in them. In the winter, let your kids help you remove snow from the walks and driveway before you all build a giant snowman together. Make snow angels and take the time for a fun snowball fight. In the spring, let your children get dirty by helping with the gardening. Let them plant bulbs or carry buckets of water.  Then allow them to choose vegetables that they’ve grown for lunch so that they can enjoy the fruits of their labor!

Use a chore like yard work to do something together as a family. More hands help the work go faster and everyone can have fun and be active at the same time. If you have other ways to have fun in the yard, let us know- we’d love to hear from you!
